Exploring our garden area
Our garden provides a truly beautiful and spacious outdoor learning environment, it delivers a sanctuary that allows all ages to explore different aspects of nature freely.

We believe that our garden helps to provide children of all ages with the best possible start to their early education, we offer a variety of learning experiences for children outdoors to gain valuable opportunities that they wouldn’t necessarily experience at home, whilst learning new skills that we know will set them up for their future. This includes our Growing Area and Mud Kitchen. These specific areas are designed to inspire children to be involved and take charge of their own learning experiences.

We set up our outdoor area with several different activities that link into the EYFS as well as following the children's interests such as construction areas, a reading area, small world area etc.

We also have a large area with opened ended resources which allows the children to use them imagination.

We ensure that by using outside resources our children are assisted in developing their fine/gross motor skills, hand/eye co-ordination, team building and fitness and exercise.

We have a beautiful garden area for our younger children to explore.

The garden area is set up to provide a very similar learning experiences to indoors, there is several different activities set up based on the children's interests and the 7 areas of the EYFS.

The children enjoy exploring the outdoor provision and there is so much fun and learning that takes place.

Our growing area

The children are involved in helping to grow a variety of vegetables and fruits. This is a wonderful learning experience that the children are able to take part in.

Once the vegetables and fruit are ready, the children are supported to pick their vegetables, wash and deliver them to the kitchen where our on site nursery chef will then be able to use the ingredients to make our yummy home made dinners.

The children enjoy talking about this experience with their friends and learning about the different ingredients in their meals.

Our mud kitchen

Our mud kitchen is an area where the children can use their own imagination to take charge of their learning and get as messy as they like in the process. This area is fully equipped with open-resources allowing the children to take control of their learning whether that be; cooking meals for their friends, making perfume and potions or digging.
This area focuses on their natural exploratory impulses using lots of our own nostalgic memories.

'Fantastic- The staff at St Andrew’s have been fantastic at settling both my boys into their setting. The wide range of activities they provide is excellent. The outside space is a big hit with my children & that was a major factor in choosing this setting.'
