Speech, Language and Communication

Communication and language are an important part of children's development and underpin many other areas of learning.

Some children may need additional support with areas such as understanding language, expressing their wants and needs, developing their vocabulary, producing speech sounds or communicating and interacting with others.

Warwickshire's Speech and Language Therapy service supports children who experience difficulties with speech, language and communication. The service can also support children where there are concerns around eating, drinking or swallowing.

Speech and Language Therapy works alongside families, early years settings, health visitors, specialist teachers and other professionals to support children's individual needs.

At St Andrews Day Nursery, we support children's communication throughout their everyday experiences. Where concerns are identified, we will work closely with parents/carers to discuss the support already in place and whether further advice or a referral may be appropriate.

Warwickshire also provides information and resources that families can use at home to support their child's speech, language and communication development.
