In the Preschool we follow 'In the Moment Planning' and 'Scaffolding Learning.' The beauty of 'In the Moment Planning' allows children to be in control of their own learning by accessing a well equipped environment which supports all of the areas of learning. 'Scaffolding Learning' enables us to provide adult led activities with teachable moments.
To observe the children's learning and development we have an online learning journal called 'Tapestry.' Staff will complete learning observations on each child during their time at nursery, this will then be uploaded onto your child's learning journal along with images and videos for parents/carers to view. Please see
'Our Learning Experiences'
section on our website.
In the Preschool Room the staff work very closely with parents/carers to provide tips and advice around communication, language skills, social skills, independence, healthy eating, toilet training and promoting positive behaviour.
We provide activities suitable for children getting ready for school, these include mathematics, literacy, mark making, health and self care, personal, social and emotional development, role play, reading, extending vocabulary, understanding of the world and the ways of life and expressive art and design, awe and wonder and much more. All of our activities are designed to encourage children to express their individual personalities, we focus on helping the children to develop their own voice and to be treated as an individual. We encourage the children to have the confidence to be able to express their own wishes and feelings.
For more information regarding your child's learning and development please take a look at 'Our Learning Experiences'
Page on our website. If you do have any more questions then please contact a staff member to discuss this.
"Thank you for not just looking after my little boy for the last three and a half years, but helping him develop into a strong, clever little boy he is today. You will be glad to hear that he has settled into school very well. We believe that this is due to the social skills he has learnt from all of you. We will take lots of happy memories with us, as well as some life long friends. Thank you for always treating him as an individual and not just a number."
